
INF Luis Marte Promoted to Triple-A Gwinnett

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The Atlanta Braves have made the following roster move affecting the M-Braves roster prior to tonight's 7:05 pm game at Birmingham. INF Luis Marte has been promoted to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Marte, 24, hit .313 (41-for131) with five doubles, one triple, two home runs, 16 RBI and four stolen bases in 40 games for the M-Braves this season. Marte began the season in the Texas Rangers organization and batted .223 for Double-A Frisco with six doubles, one home run and six RBI over 31 games, but was released on May 18. The Atlanta Braves signed the San Francisco de Macoris, DR native on May 23.
Marte earned M-Braves Player of the Month honors by the organization for June after leading the club with a .337 (28-for-83) batting average and seven extra-base hits, two stolen bases and a .382 on-base percentage. Marte had a nine-game hitting streak, June 16-26, batting .529 (18-for-34) with five extra-base hits, 11 RBI, and seven runs scored. Signed originally with Texas as an international free agent on Nov. 4, 2010.
The Rangers signed Marte as an international free agent on Nov. 4, 2010. The shortstop will join Gwinnett when their season resumes after the International League All-Star break on Thursday in Norfolk.
The Mississippi Braves roster currently stands at 24 active players and three on the DL.
