Indy Crushes Durham as Road Woes Follow Bulls Home

Durham Bulls News Release
DURHAM, NC - The Durham Bulls returned home after a 14 game, 15 day road trip on Friday night, but the DBAP crowd of 8,473 couldn't reverse the team's struggles as Indianapolis scored early and often on the way to a 13-2 win. The Bulls' losing streak now stands at 11 games.
Bulls starting pitcher Alex Torres was hit hard, giving up four runs in the first inning. Indians DH Jake Fox hit a two run home run over the Blue Monster in the inning, which set the pace for the game. Torres (1-3, 10.38) was lifted after failing to retire any of the three Indians he faced in the second. The lefty allowed six earned runs and six hits, while walking two. Durham found themselves down 8-1 at the end of the second and never came close to mounting a comeback. The Bulls pen did not fare much better against the International League West division rival. Overworked during the marathon road trip, Bulls relievers Lance Pendleton, Romulo Sanchez, and Marquis Fleming all allowed runs in their limited work.
Indy would add runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings, knocking out 18 hits in the process. Both Matt Hague and Nick Evans had four hit, three RBI games for the Tribe. Jo-Jo Reyes (3-0, 3.18) pitched well, tossing six innings and remaining perfect on the year.
Durham looks to get back in the win column tomorrow night when they take on the Indianapolis Indians in game two of the four game series at the DBAP. The Bulls will send RHP Chris Archer (1-3, 8.00) to the hill to take on LHP Rudy Owens (0-2, 2.84). Game time is set for 5:05pm.
