THE E-WATCH
Former Dorados defensive specialist Eddie Moten is the first and only player to advance his playing career from the Dorados to the higher level and is currently the youngest member of the Arena Football League âs (AFL) Philadelphia Soul. Moten, who was a rookie last season for the Dorados out of Texas A&M-Kingsville, co-led the af2 last season in interceptions with 10 and led the af2 in interception return yards with 124 yards. Each week we will keep tabs on his progress in AFL action:
Fri. March 11th @ San Jose Sabercats
The Philadelphia Soul had their record drop to 2-5 Friday night on the road with a 52-26 loss to the San Jose Sabercats. Moten did not play in the game and missed his second consecutive game since being placed on the injured reserve list. His totals remain at 18 tackles (15-solo, 4-assisted) on the year (ranks tied for 48th in the league) and his team leading 9 pass break-ups (passes defended) ranks tied for fourth in the AFL, leaving him three back from leader Rashad Floyd of Colorado.
Next for Moten: The Soul (2-5) will return home this Sunday to host the Tamp Bay Storm (4-2) at 11-AM, in a contest to be carried on NBC. (NBC determines which games are televised in each of their markets and KVEO Channel 23 could air the Soul contest or the New Orleans at Chicago contest).
A REVIEW OF THIS PAST WEEK'S ANNOUNCED ASSIGNMENTS
Jonathan Feig (K) 6'1 185 Coral Springs, FL Washington University in St. Louis
Feig played three of four seasons (2000-2003) at NCAA Div. III Washington University in St.Louis and left ranking eighth in career scoring with 140 points and holding the University Athletic Association (UAA) record for the longest field goal. He completed the task, nailing a 51-yard field goal in his first ever game as a freshman (2000). Feig also converted three field goals during the same game to tie a school single-game record. His quick start led to UAA Rookie of the Year and back-to-back All-UAA First Team honors. He finished third in the nation in average field goals per game (1.63) as a freshman and tied for tenth as a sophomore (2001) in the same category (1.00). An injury sidelined him for the entire 2002 season, but he returned in 2003 and converted three of six field goal attempts and 18 of 20 PATs. He completed his college career going 26 for 45 in field goal attempts and was 63 of 70 (90%) in extra points.
