Indians Welcome Nine Interns

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- The Indianapolis Indians have added nine interns to its staff, including Julie Fischer, who will return to the team for her second season, Indians General Manager Cal Burleson announced today.

Indians' internships, which run from late January to the end of the baseball season in September, have launched the careers of numerous sports administration professionals, including a host of current Tribe staffers, including Assistant General Manager Randy Lewandoski and Director of Marketing Chris Herndon.

Interns joining the Tribe staff include second-year operations assistant Julie Fischer, operations assistant Jonathon Albright, marketing assistant Paul Beck, ticket operations assistant Adam Bollier, community relations and promotions assistant Gina Bonaventura, ticket operations assistant Kelly Bowen, ticket operations assistant Daniel Hampel, merchandising assistant Jacob Pickett and operations assistant Nicole Pope.

Fischer, a native of Evansville, attended Mater Dei High School and is a graduate of the University of Southern Indiana. Albright hails from Fort Wayne, attended Homestead High School and is a graduate of Purdue University and the Indiana University School of Law. Beck, a native of Findlay, Oh., attended Findlay High School and is a Butler University graduate, where he played baseball for the Bulldogs. Beck's uncle, Doug Neuenschwander, played for the Indians during the 1981 season. Bollier, a native of Fort Wayne, attended Leo High School and graduated from Anderson University, where he was a member of the Raven baseball team that participated in the 2003 Division III College World Series. Bonaventura, a native of Valparaiso, attended Valparaiso High School and will graduate from Butler in May, where she has been an Eli Lilly Scholar. Bowen, a native of Merrillville, attended Merrillville High School and is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Ball State University. Hampel, a native of Danville, Ill., graduated from Southern Illinois University (Carbondale). Pickett, a native of Fort Wayne, graduated from Ball State University. Pope, a native of Alton, Ill., attended Alton High School and is a graduate of Western Illinois and received a Master's in Sport Management at Ball State.
