Indianapolis Indians News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - The Indianapolis Indians will host eight of the top Indiana high school baseball programs at Victory Field for the 47th annual IHSAA State Finals on Friday, June 14 and Saturday, June 15. Each of the four high school classifications will be represented at the championship tournament as they square off in winner-take-all contests.
Two evenly matched teams will kick off the two-day action of postseason baseball as Jasper (32-3) faces Norwell (32-3) in Friday's Class 3A title game. First pitch for the opening matchup is slated for 7:37 p.m.
Saturday's tripleheader will feature reigning 2012 State Finals champions in the first pair of games, before being capped off with a showdown between two of the top three high school squads in the state of Indiana. In the opening contest, scheduled for 1:07 p.m., Vincennes Rivet (19-12) will take on defending 1A champions Lafayette Central Catholic (30-5). The Class 2A title game will then follow with an approximate start time of 4:00 p.m. and features South Spencer (22-8) and Northfield (29-3), the latter of which is seeking to repeat as the 2A champions.
The final game of the day is set for an approximate 7:00 p.m. first pitch, pitting undefeated Indianapolis Cathedral (28-0) in the Class 4A title game against Elkhart Central (31-1). According to MaxPreps, an offshoot of CBSSports.com, Indianapolis Cathedral enters the championship game ranked as the No. 2 high school baseball program in Indiana, while Elkhart Central is rated just one spot back at the No. 3 program in the state.
Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. for Friday's contest and 12:00 p.m. for Saturday's trio of games, and an awards ceremony will immediately follow the conclusion of each State Championship matchup.
Each day of the IHSAA State Finals is considered its own session and all tickets for Friday and Saturday's slate of games are available as general admission seating for $9. Adults and students must purchase a ticket to be admitted into Victory Field, while children five years of age and younger will be admitted free of charge.
Tickets to both days contests are also available through the Indians' single-game ticket hotline at 317-269-2282 or by visiting the Victory Field box office (501 W. Maryland Street) on Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
