Potomac Nationals News Release
Nick Hagadone earned his first win since 2008, one-hitting the Potomac Nationals through five innings Wednesday night. The Kinston Indians went on to shut out the P-Nats 7-0 and take the series 2-1.
Kinston improved to 25-22 as Potomac fell to 21-26. The Nationals dropped to 21-26, but are still tied for second place in the Carolina League Northern Division, seven games behind the first-place Frederick Keys.
Hagadone fanned six batters in the shutout. Travis Turek (3.0 IP) and Cory Burns (1.0 IP) each struck out a pair of batters to close out the win.
Tyler Moore and Bill Rhinehart were each 1-for-3, registering the only two Potomac hits all night.
Jordan Henry led off the game with a single, stole second and promply scored after back-to-back singles by Jason Kipnis and Abner Abreu.
That would have been enough to win it, but Kinston added three more in the fifth, a fifth in the seventh and two more on top of everything in the ninth.
Evan Bronson was charged with the loss after surrendering four runs, two earned, on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings.
The P-Nats take the day off Thursday before returning to the field Friday as they host the Salem Red Sox. First pitch in the three-game series opener is set for 7:03 p.m.
