Indiana Alley Cats Schedule Released

October 4, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

The Indiana Alley Cats of the American Basketball Association (ABA) announced their inaugural season schedule today.

Indiana will begin the season with a home date against division foe Lake Erie Rockers on Sunday, November 6th at 5 p.m. Highlights of the schedule include three visits from the Kentucky Colonels, adding a new chapter to one of the basketball's fiercest rivalries. Alley Cats coach, and former Indiana University Basketball star, Greg Graham understands the importance of the Indiana-Kentucky rivalry, playing Kentucky teams numerous times while at Indiana Unversity and as a Indiana High School All-Star. "It doesn't matter what level, Indiana versus Kentucky is as big as it gets" coach Graham commented "but our focus now is having a successful training camp, and living up to the great ABA tradition here in Indiana." The Alley Cats will play 18 home games and 18 road games over the course of their four month season.

November will mark the rebirth of the ABA in Indiana after nearly 3 decades of absence. Following the 1975-1976 season, the ABA and NBA merged, which started a twenty-five year ABA moratorium. The ABA resurfaced in 2001 with seven teams and has rapidly expanded, becoming the fastest growing professional sports league in history. The ABA will field over 50 teams in the 2005-2006 campaign.

Team President Rob Blackwell has no doubt the Alley Cats will be a hit "the ABA is fast-paced, high energy basketball at its best." When asked about his targeted audience Blackwell said "we offer a wide range of entertainment that appeals to everyone. The Alley Cats provide fun and affordable family entertainment."

The Indiana Alley Cats home games will be played at the O.C. Lewis Gymnasium on the Anderson University Campus. Season Tickets, Group Tickets, and Individual Game Tickets are available. Ticket start at $10, and can be ordered through Ticketmaster and at the Reardon Auditorium on the Anderson University Campus. For further information visit www.indyalleycats.com and www.abalive.com.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
