Independence Trio Selected to Gold Cup Provisional Rosters

Charlotte (NC) - Charlotte Independence defender Andrew Gutman has been selected by U.S. Men's National Team Head Coach Gregg Berhalter to the 40-man provisional roster ahead of this summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup. Gutman's selection marks the first time a player currently active in the USL Championship has been called up to the United States Men's National Team.

Gutman is on loan to the Independence from iconic Scottish Premier League side Celtic FC. The 22-year-old has made 11 appearances and recording two goals and one assist so far this season. After a prolific collegiate career, Gutman won the 2018 MAC Hermann Trophy at Indiana University.

Additionally, Independence midfielder Michaël Maria was named to the Curaçao National Team provisional roster and Independence midfielder Kevan George was named to the Trinidad & Tobago National Team.

The Independence will continue into the second of a four-game away stretch next week at the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. The official watch party will be hosted at Jack's House Soccer Bar and Event Space. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM ET. The Independence will return home on Saturday, June 15th versus Birmingham Legion FC. Tickets are now on sale.
