
Independence Draw Rangers Among Controversy

Kansas City (MO) - The Charlotte Independence professional soccer team played to a scoreless draw versus the Swope Park Rangers at Children's Mercy Park on Saturday afternoon. Independence goalkeeper Brandon Miller saved six shots, including a penalty to record the second shutout of the season for the Independence.
In the 27th minute, Independence forward Niki Jackson's right footed shot hit off the post. Just before the halftime whistle, Miller dove low and to his right to keep Swope Park Ranger's forward Camden Riley from converting a penalty.
The most controversial play of the game came in the 76th minute. Independence midfielder Abdoulie Mansally put the ball in the back of the net off of a directly off a free kick, but the play was called offside.
The Independence will return home next Saturday, June 15th versus Birmingham Legion FC. Tickets are now on sale.
