
Roughnecks Lose 0-5 to Phoenix Rising

PHOENIX, AZ- The Tulsa Roughnecks traveled to Phoenix, Arizona to play Phoenix Rising FC on Friday, June 7that Casino Arizona Field. The Tulsa Roughnecks were looking to regain momentum after dropping last week's match at home. The match began with Phoenix Rising pressing high up the pitch. In the 13th minute, Adam Jahn continued his hot streak and got on the end of a 40 yard through ball by James Musa to hit it over Sean Lewis on the volley from the top of the box. In the 25th minute, Junior Flemmings go on the end of a cross by Adam Jahn on the end of a fast break. In the 40th minute a penalty was awarded to Phoenix Rising FC because of a foul committed by Mallan Roberts. In the 41st minute, Solomon Asante put away the penalty making it 3-0 to Phoenix Rising FC end the half.
Tulsa Roughnecks started off the second half on the front foot holding possession, and having more attacking play. Against the run of play, Junior Flemmings connected on the end of a ball by Solomon Asante to take the lead to 4-0 in the 64th minute.
Andrew Wheeler-Omiunu then put Phoenix Rising FC up 5-0 with his first touch of the match tucking one into the bottom right corner in the 71st minute. The match ended as Phoenix Rising FC tried to keep the clean sheet as the Tulsa Roughnecks pushed for a goal. DJ Dean had a rip from 20 yards out that was barely saved by Zac Lubin, and Janu Silva had a header bang of the cross bar in stoppage time. Yet, the game ended at 5-0 to Phoenix Rising FC.
The Tulsa Roughnecks are back at home to host El Paso Locomotive for their next match June 15th at 7:30.
