South Bend Silver Hawks News Release

FORT WAYNE - Ender Inciarte laced an RBI single through the right side in the ninth inning and the South Bend Silver Hawks (19-15) defeated the Fort Wayne TinCaps 3-2 to even the three-game series at a game apiece. The Hawks have now won four road games in their last at bat this season.

Taylor Siemens (2-0) earned the win in relief for the Silver Hawks, tossing two scoreless innings with a pair of strikeouts. D.J. Johnson earned his third save and struck out the side in the ninth inning.

With the game tied at two entering the ninth, Marc Bourgeois coaxed a leadoff walk to start the rally. Fidel Pena followed with a sacrifice bunt to move Bourgeois into scoring position. After Ryan Court lined out to second base, Inciarte delivered the eventual game winner.

Left-hander John Pedrotty started for South Bend and got a no decision, allowing two runs - one earned - on five hits over six innings. The left-hander struck out a season-high eight batters and walked just one. Right-hander Colin Rea started for the TinCaps and surrendered one earned run on two hits over four innings.

Gerson Montilla finished 2-for-4 with a double for the Silver Hawks while Court added a triple.

The Hawks took a 1-0 lead on an RBI single from Montilla in the first inning. The TinCaps tied the game 1-1 in the third inning on an RBI single from Justin Miller. Fort Wayne took the lead in the fourth inning on an RBI groundout from Kyle Gaedelle.

Inciarte's RBI groundout in the fifth inning tied the game at one.

Rea started for Fort Wayne after Joe Ross was a late scratch due to shoulder soreness. TinCaps shortstop Jace Peterson was carted off the field in the first inning after colliding with Rea.

The Silver Hawks and TinCaps will play the final game of the three-game series Friday night at 7:05 p.m. EST from Parkview Field. Right-hander Jesse Darrah (2-1, 3.58) makes the start for South Bend and he will be opposed by righty Matt Wisler (1-3, 3.16).
