LAKEWOOD, NJ - With one out in the game's tenth inning, the Hickory Crawdads slapped a double to centerfield, proving be the pivotal run in a 5-4 win against the Lakewood BlueClaws Saturday afternoon.

In a game with a number lead changes, the BlueClaws (15-13) took the lead in the first inning as Sebastian Valle singled home Travis d'Arnaud with two outs and it was a 1-0 game.

However, in the fifth, the Crawdads (16-13) got two runs after an error extended the inning. Leadoff hitter David Paisano doubled to center field and that brought Doug Hogan and Edward Martinez home to take the lead 2-1.

The BlueClaws got back on top of the sea-saw as they scored two runs in the bottom half of the inning with a single by Troy Hanzawa to lead the inning off, followed by a base hit by Jeremy Hamilton, a fielders choice and another base hit. The inning ended with an error on the shortstop Martinez, bringing Castro home but Garcia was nailed at the plate.

In the eighth, the Crawdads were back on top as they got back-to-back doubles with two outs off Justin De Fratus and scored two runs to take a 4-3 lead. Matt West hit the first of the two doubles and now has 10 RBIs in five games this season against the BlueClaws.

The BlueClaws got their turn to get the lead again, getting leadoff hitter Garcia on base with no outs, but a double play turned on Anthony Gose proved to be an important play because of the very next hitter. With a new pitcher in the game, Cody Eppley, d'Arnaud hit a no-doubt home run over the fence in left to tie the game up at four.

The Crawdads got a runner on with a hit by pitch and the double by Erik Morrison in the tenth added the run that lead to the victory.

In his first home start, and second start of the season, Heitor Correa pitched very well in six innings for the BlueClaws. He did not allow an earned run and allowed just three hits while striking out six. He was relieved by De Fratus, who worked three innings and allowed two runs. BJ Rosenberg (2-1) pitched the tenth and picked up the loss, allowing the game-winning run.

Highly touted prospect Martin Perez started the game for the Crawdads and he worked well, on a pitch count, going 4.1 and allowing two runs. He was relieved by Glen Sampson, who worked 3.1 innings and did not allow a run. Eppley (1-0) came on in the eighth and allowed the home run to d'Arnaud before he worked a clean ninth and tenth innings to pick up the win.

The BlueClaws look to get back in the win column after two losses in a row as they send Jesus Sanchez (1-2) to the mound against righty Jake Brigham (1-1). The game, a 1:05 start, will also be Breast Cancer Awareness day and the BlueClaws will wear pink jerseys that will be auctioned off for charity after the game thanks to MomsLikeMe.com.
