
Mitchell Sent to Staten Island, Dogs Activate Banuelos

CHARLESTON, SC - The New York Yankees announced Saturday that RiverDogs RHP D.J. Mitchell has been transferred to short-season Staten Island. Taking his place on the active roster is LHP Manny Banuelos, who has been activated from the disabled list with an upper body injury.
Mitchell (4-1) leads the team in victories and his 42 strikeouts rank second in the South Atlantic League (SAL). He exits the Lowcountry with a 1.95 ERA (8 ER/37.0 IP) through six starts with the RiverDogs. The former Clemson Tiger has also held opponents to a .228 batting average in addition to allowing 31 hits and six walks.
Banuelos will make his first for the RiverDogs start since 4/27 Saturday night against the Asheville Tourists. Through four starts, Banuelos has a 1-0 record with a 4.08 ERA (8 ER/17.2 IP). The native of Monterrey, Mexico has also allowed 20 hits and seven walks with 17 strikeouts.
The RiverDogs leave tomorrow to embark on an eight-game road trip and will return home on May 20 to open an eight-game homestand. Tickets for the homestand can be purchased by visiting the RiverDogs website at www.riverdogs.com or by calling the box office at (843) 577-DOGS.
