San Angelo Colts News Release

Harlingen, Texas---Brian Henschel and the Colts would try to change their luck in Harlingen, after losing three of four the last time they went to Harlingen Field. After sweeping a four game series from Rio in the most recent meeting at Foster Field, San Angelo would try to keep it going in game one of a four game set in enemy territory. They would have no luck though, losing 5-4 as a late rally fell short and Henschel's bad luck would continue with his counter part Alexander Concepcion having an exceptional night for the WhiteWings.

Each team would exchange runs in the first to make it 1-1. During that first inning Ronnie Gaines got a hit extending his hitting streak to 25 games to begin the season. The WhiteWings would add another in the third, on an infield single by Antonio DeJesus that drove in Rio's second run to give them the lead at 2-1. The Wings added a pair in the third on a single that drove in two by Wesley Dimitt and it was 4-1. It looked like that would be all they would need the way WhiteWings starter Alexander Concepcion was pitching (3-2), who struck out 16 over six innings.

After the WhiteWings added an insurance run which turned out to be the difference on a David Peralta (6) homerun, the Colts would go into the ninth down 5-1. San Angelo didn't quit fighting until the end, as they rallied for three in the ninth on an Andrew Riddick (1) homer to make it 5-4. It was Riddick's debut as a member of the Colts, who had three hits on the night, but the rally fell short as that would be the final.

Brian Henschel (1-4) went the distance throwing his second complete game of the season, both for losses. Edgar Martinez (10) added to his league lead in saves by striking out two, as San Angelo struck out a total of 20 times in the loss. The Colts and WhiteWings go at it again in game two of their four game set on Wednesday as San Angelo sends out southpaw Logan Williamson (3-0, 4.36) against right-hander Eric Blackwell (1-1, 2.66) for the WhiteWings. It all begins with the pre-game show at 6:45 with the first pitch at 7:05 on 101.9 "The Fire".
