Illo Commits To Bemidji State University

KEARNEY, NE - Tri-City Storm forward Radoslav Illo has committed to play hockey for Bemidji State University. A native of Bystrica, Slovokia, is in his second season with the Storm and currently leads the team in goals with six in eight games.

"First of all, it's a beautiful campus on a lake and a small college that makes me feel close to everyone at the college," said Illo. "Bemidji is a solid program and I'm looking forward to attending school there."

"The hockey team is moving to the WCHA (Western Collegiate Hockey Association) and has a brand new rink being built. After visiting the campus, I was thrilled to be playing hockey at Bemidji," added the six foot, 180 pound forward. "I'm now able to focus on the team (the Storm) and the task at hand with this commitment behind me."

Last season, Illo led the Storm in goals with 21 and was second in points (33 points) in 47 games. He was drafted last June in the fifth round of the NHL Entry Draft by the Anaheim Ducks with the 136th overall pick.

"We are really excited for Radoslav and his commitment to Bemidji State," said Head Coach of the Storm Drew Schoneck. "Bemidji is a great program and they're headed in the right direction. We are in the business to help these players get to college and it's great to see Rado get his commitment."

With Illo's commitment, the Storm currently has eight players committed to NCAA Division I schools; Josh Berge (Minnesota State Univ. - Mankato), Anthony DeCenzo (Univ. of Vermont), Luke McManus (Univ. of Minnesota - Duluth), Michael Montrose (Bowling Green State Univ.), Cody Murphy (Miami Univ. of Ohio), Jaden Schwartz (Colorado College), and Maxwell Tardy (Univ. of Minnesota - Duluth).

The Tri-City Storm is member of the 14-team United States Hockey League, which has teams in nine states throughout the Midwest. The USHL is the top junior league ages 20 and under in North America for developing NCAA prospects and NHL prospects.
