Surging Stampede Continue Homestand At Home This Weekend

The Stampede (6-1-2) continue their nine-game homestand this weekend when they host Tri-City and Indiana at the Sioux Falls Arena.

The Stampede are coming off a weekend sweep of West Division opponents. On Friday, the Stampede blanked the Lincoln Stars 4-0 behind Lino Chimienti's 23 saves and on Saturday, the Herd blasted Sioux City 7-3. Matt Bailey tallied two goals and an assist while Clay Witt stopped 21 of 24 shots to earn the win in goal over the rival Musketeers.

The Stampede enter the weekend in second place in the West Division, just two points behind Omaha for first place. Tri-City enters the week with a 6-1-1 record and on a four-game winning streak. The Storm will host Lincoln on Tuesday prior to their game in Sioux Falls. Jaden Schwartz leads the way offensively with 14 points (5g, 9a) in eight games.

On Saturday, the Herd will host the defending Clark Cup champion Indiana Ice. The Ice are 5-2-1 on the season and in third place in the East Division, just three points behind Chicago for first. The Ice have won four of their last five games and have balanced scoring attack with seven players registering five or more points. Cab Morris is the top goaltender in the league with a 3-1-0 record and a 1.23 GAA.

Chili's We Win/You Win this Friday

This Friday is the second We Win/You Win promotion with Chili's of Sioux Falls. Should the Stampede defeat Tri-city, all fans in attendance will receive a coupon good for "Free chips and Queso" with any entrée purchase from Chili's Grill & Bar of Sioux Falls located on West 41st Street! Cheer on the Herd this Friday night and if the Stampede Win, You Win! Game time is 7:05 PM.

CHIMIENTI SHINES IN GOAL

First year goaltender Lino Chimienti is off to a 4-0-0 start this season. He recorded his first career USHL shutout on Friday in a 4-0 win over Lincoln and has allowed just six goals in four games this season. The Laval, Quebec native ranks second amongst USHL goaltenders with an impressive 1.50 GAA and a.935 save percentage.

Offensively, the Stampede are led by Matt Bailey who had four points on the weekend and now has 11 (6g, 5a) on the season and is a plus-7. Mike Voran is second on the team with 10 points (3g, 7a) and also a plus-7.

O Captain My Captain!

Nine former Stampede players are serving as captains or assistant captains this year with their respective collegiate teams.

Drew Akins (05-06), Ben Holmstrom (03-06), Ryan Thang (04-06) and Travis Vermeulen (05-06) are captains this season while Channing Boe (05-06), Greg Costa (03-04), David Solway (06-07), Corey Tropp (05-07) and Zach Redmond (05-07) are assistant captains. DAN SEXTON TO APPEAR ON INSIDE STAMPEDE HOCKEY

Former Stampede forward Dan Sexton will appear on Inside Stampede Hockey today (Monday) on AM-1230 KWSN. Inside Stampede Hockey airs every Monday from 5-6 PM on KWSN and www.kwsn.com. Sexton signed a professional contract with the Anaheim Ducks during the summer and is currently skating with their ECHL affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors.

Sexton ranks second amongst ECHL rookies with 11 points (4g, 7a) in just eight games. The Apple Valley, MN native had a goal and an assist in a 6-3 loss to Utah on Friday.

Stampede head coach Kevin Hartzell will also appear on the show to talk about the Stampede's fast start to the season and the keys to success this weekend at home.
