IHL Semi-Annual Meeting Update

February 10, 2010 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2) News Release

DETROIT, MI- The International Hockey League (IHL) concluded its two- day Semi-Annual Meeting yesterday in Detroit, Michigan with several topics being discussed, including future competition committee reviews, league-wide equipment relationships for 2010-2011 season, updates on current league memberships and finally future league's expansion requests.

A number of game play changes were discussed and will be reviewed for the upcoming season by the team governors. The competition committee will take time to review the veteran rules information specifically and all competition changes will be voted upon when the meeting concludes via tele-conference or at the IHL Annual Meetings scheduled for June.

The Board of Governors was also provided presentations from companies that are looking at league-wide sponsorships with the IHL. The IHL welcomed most notably the following companies Sher-Wood, Reebok, H2 Overdrive and Cascade Sports to offer presentations on the potential for pro-active participation with the IHL for 2010-2011.

Members/ownership groups from Evansville and Chicago were both present at the meeting, giving the Board of Governors a presentation on each team's positive future with the IHL. The IHL was pleased to see great progress being made by both markets in regard to their respective ownership group's planned entrance into the IHL.

The Muskegon Lumberjacks ownership informed the IHL Board of Governors of their inability to continue to operate in the IHL as a good standing member professional hockey organization for the 2010-2011 season and as a result have decided to not bring back professional hockey after a storied 50-year tradition in the community.

"The IHL is thankful that the owners in Muskegon have done all they could to the best of their abilities to keep professional hockey in Muskegon, but unfortunately they decided not to continue with the professional game after this season and we wish them the best of luck moving forward," stated Dennis Hextall, IHL President/Commissioner. "We are very excited about our growth opportunities with Chicago and Evansville and look forward to our bright future."

The IHL Board of Governors voted to continue the semi-annual meeting via teleconference at a later date after the information presented could be reviewed by the entire league.

The IHL's Annual Meetings will be held June 21st-24th in Las Vegas, Nevada. At the meeting, the 2010-2011 IHL schedule will be constructed with an anticipated release around July 1st.
