Ignition Agrees To Terms With ZÉ Roberto

(Southfield, Mich., November 1, 2007) - The Detroit Ignition has agreed to terms with midfielder José Roberto Gomes Santana "Zé Roberto", the club announced today. Per club policy, the financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The São Paulo, Brazil native comes to the Ignition from the Vancouver Whitecaps of the United Soccer League's First Division, where he played six regular-season and two playoff games. Prior to joining the Whitecaps, Roberto played for the USL-1 Montreal Impact where he scored 17 goals and notched 17 assists during 127 regular-season games.

"Zé Roberto's energy and tenaciousness will add depth to our already talented midfield. He comes with a wealth of both outdoor and indoor experience, and is a proven winner," Head Coach Mark Pulisic said. "We look forward to his contributions this season."

The Detroit Ignition is a member club of the Major Indoor Soccer League, and begins the team's second season in November 2007 after advancing to the MISL Championship Finals during the 2006-07 season.
