HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. - NBA G League Ignite (2-24) fell to the Windy City Bulls (10-12), 117-87, on Friday at Now Arena in Hoffman Estates, Ill.
Matas Buzelis led the way for Ignite with a final stat line of 24 points, 13 rebounds, four blocks and two assists in his professional hometown debut. Buzelis notched his fifth double-double of the season. Gabe York followed with 20 points, four assists and three rebounds, while Izan Almansa added 12 points, four rebounds and two assists.
Adama Sanogo paced the Bulls with a double-double of 22 points and 12 rebounds on 9-of-10 shots from the field. Evan Gilyard provided 15 points, four rebounds and three assists off the bench, while Ben Coupet Jr. posted 14 points, two rebounds and two assists.
Ignite fell behind early after a slow start and trailed by 11 points with 2:43 remaining in the first quarter. Ignite used a 13-2 run that carried into the beginning of the second quarter to even the score (26-26) for the first time in the game. Despite the tightly contested matchup, Ignite never led in the first half as the Bulls edged out a five-point advantage at the halfway mark. The Bulls began to pull away in the third quarter after extending its lead by 15 points after shooting 65.2 percent from the field in the frame. The Bulls took full control in the fourth quarter en route to outscoring Ignite 32-16 in the period to coast to the victory.
