Ignite Drops Winter Showcase Finale

ORLANDO, FL - NBA G League Ignite (4-12) dropped its Winter Showcase finale to the Grand Rapids Gold (5-11), 113-90, on Thursday night at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL.

Ignite was led by Tyler Smith, who finished with 18 points and seven rebounds on 6-of-12 shots from the field, including 2-of-4 from behind the arc. Jonn Jenkins recorded 15 points, while Ron Holland added 12 points, six rebounds, six assists and two blocks. Babacar Sane posted 11 points and three rebounds.

Jalen Pickett paced the Gold with a game-high 19 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals. Hunter Tyson posted 17 points and four rebounds, while Colin Gillespie recorded 16 points, nine assists and eight rebounds. Braxton Key notched a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Ignite took an early advantage after the first quarter (24-22) behind John Jenkins, who poured in 11 of his 15 points in the opening frame. Ignite's offensive struggles began in the second period after posting a season-low 15 points in the second quarter. Ignite shot 18.8 percent from the field, including 14.3 percent from the three-point line, as the Gold took a 53-39 lead at the halfway mark. The Gold continued to pull away in the third quarter en route to taking a 32-point lead in the frame and never looked back.

Ignite will begin the regular season against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Thursday, Dec. 28, at the Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg, Texas, tipping off at 5:30 p.m. PT/8:30 p.m. ET. Coverage will be available on ESPN+.
