May 13, 2010 - Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release
Richmond, Virginia: The Indoor Football League announced today, it is aware of the circumstances surrounding the Alaska Wild franchise that could potentially plague the remainder of the team's 2010 season. The Sunday, May 16th game versus Billings has been suspended at this time while the league reviews its options to determine the best course of action to ensure the team's future.
An announcement will be made early to mid next week regarding the details of Anchorage's future. League Commissioner Tommy Benizio stated, "There is a tremendous amount of support in this team, the city of Anchorage, and its fan base. We are currently working on an amicable solution for everyone's best interest".
The Indoor Football League is a 25 team league and growing. While competing in only its second season, the league was created from a merger of the Intense Football League (2004-2008) and the United Indoor Football (2005-2008). No scheduled game has ever gone un-played during this combined 11 season history including 110 games thus far during the 2010 season. The playoffs begin on June 26th where the top 16 teams will do battle for the United Bowl II.
