Idaho has impact on NBA All-Star Weekend

BOISE, Idaho (February 18, 2007) - The impact of the Idaho Stampede could be seen and felt throughout NBA All-Star Weekend in Las Vegas, NV, as many fans witnessed performances by current and former Stampede players, as well as the Farmers and Merchants Bank Stampede Spirit dancers.

The Spirit provided dance clinics to kids throughout the Las Vegas area at the D-League Competition Court at NBA Jam Session, in conjunction with the NBA Cares and D-League Cares community programs. The Spirit also performed at halftime of the inaugural Gillette D-League All-Star game in association with 24 Hour Fitness on Saturday afternoon.

Stampede current player Ronell Taylor played in the D-League All-Star game, where he tallied 6 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists. Taylor was an injury replacement for teammates Randy Livingston and Peter Ramos, who were both injured on Friday night's game against Arkansas.

Former Stampede players also made their impression at All-Star Weekend, competing in the Haier Shooting Stars Competition was current Los Angeles Lakers guard Smush Parker. Parker played in nine games for the Stampede during the 2003-04 season, averaging 21 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game.

Current Cleveland Cavalier Damon Jones competed in the Foot Locker Three-Point Shootout, nailing 15 points in the first round and narrowly missed the finals. Jones played 35 games for the Stampede during the 1998-99 season, averaging 21.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game. He also holds three individual records for the franchise, scoring average for the season (21.7 ppg), 3-pt field goals in a game (8), and 3-pt field goals in a season (120).
