CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - Corpus Christi IceRays General Manager Pat Dunn announced today that the team has traded forward Kevin Crowe (Galloway, NJ) to the St. Louis Bandits in exchange for defenseman Mychal Monteith (Sylvania, MI). Monteith is expected in uniform this weekend.

"It is never an easy decision to trade one of your own players, especially a player like Kevin who has tremendous character and was a leader in our dressing room," said Dunn. "We would like to extend our thanks to him for his hard work here in Corpus Christi and wish him all the best in St. Louis with the Bandits."

"It's a numbers game," said Head Coach Brent Hughes. "Kevin is a great kid, but he's in his final year of hockey at this level and we felt we needed to make a move to bring in a younger player who could produce for us in the future."

Crowe, an alternate captain in Corpus Christi, tallied four goals and seven assists for 11 points in 22 games played.

In return, Corpus Christi strengthens their blue line with a skilled defenseman in Monteith. The 5'10 170 lb. defenseman becomes the second NCAA Division I hockey commitment for the team as he will begin his collegiate career with the Mercyhurst Lakers of the Atlantic Hockey Association.

This season in St. Louis, the 18-year old Monteith had three goals and three assists for six points in 16 games played while amassing a plus-16 (+16) rating.

The IceRays continue their seven-game road trip, Friday November 26th at 7:05 PM versus the Wichita Falls Wildcats at the Kay Yeager Coliseum. It is the first of three games next weekend. Fans can catch the pre-game show on the flagship home of the IceRays, News/Talk 1440 KEYS, www.1440KEYS.com, with the voice of the IceRays, Ryan Holt, beginning at 6:50 PM.
