Flath who was waived earlier last week by the Rapid City Rush, was claimed by Amarillo off waivers. "I really wanted to pick up R.G. off waivers last week, but Amarillo claimed him before us. Needless to say, I immediately go on the phone with Amarillo to work a deal and bring him to Corpus" said head Coach Brent Hughes. Flath played for Hughes in Austin during the 2007-2008 season where he tallied 19 goals and 17 assists in 47 games. "R.G. is a good kid that would go through the wall for you" added Hughes. The Park City, Utah native has already arrived in Corpus Christi, and had his first practice with the team on Thursday morning.
The IceRays return to the American Bank Center on Friday Night for Texas National Guard Night on Frosty Friday's. The IceRays host the Laredo Bucks at 7:05pm, and the first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive Texas National Guard clappers. Also during Friday home games all 24 oz. domestic beers will be half-price. Fans can also get Flint Hills Chill Zone tickets for $7 each on the day of the game only.
