Laredo Bucks News Release
The Bucks finish up their season-opening three-game road trip Friday night when they meet the Ice Rays for the first of 14 meetings this season. The Bucks have beaten the Ice Rays a total 63 times in the regular season, their most wins against any CHL team.
Team Captain Adam Rivet is expected to play Friday night, while Igor Agarunov is listed as day-to-day.
Going back to the end of last season the Bucks have won six-straight road contests. Laredo won their last four road games last season, and have won their first two this campaign.
Laredo posted a 2-0 mark last weekend when they beat Bossier-Shreveport and Rio Grande Valley on the road by a combined 11-4 margin. Lance Monych (3-3=5) and Jeff Bes (1-4=5) lead the Bucks in scoring thus far, while Darryl Smith has chipped in with four points (2-2=4).
The Bucks special teams have started off strong, as they are a league-leading 5-13 on the power-play, and have killed off eight of nine power-plays against them (fourth in the CHL).
The Bucks look to start 3-0 for the second time in the last three seasons, as they went 3-0 in 2007-08 en route to a CHL-record 10-0 start.
The Bucks practiced in Corpus on Thursday afternoon, due to no ice availability at the LEC.
The Ice Rays enter Friday night's game with a 0-1-1 mark, losing both games by just one goal. Corpus couldn't hold on to a one-goal third period lead last Saturday, falling 4-3 at home to Bossier.
Jereme Tendler (2-0=2) and Chris Richards (1-1=2) lead the Ice Rays in scoring.
