IceMen in South Carolina Saturday and Sunday

October 29, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Evansville IceMen News Release

PALMETTO PASS

Evansville's first road trip of the season takes the team east for back-to-back games against the ECHL's two South Carolina teams. Saturday, the IceMen will take on the Greenville Swamp Rabbits at 3pm Eastern, in a game that was moved up from 7pm due to Halloween events. It will be the first time former Greenville defensemen Andrew Himelson, Spencer Humphries and Samuel Noreau face their old team. After the game, the IceMen will travel to Charleston for a 3pm Eastern start Sunday against the South Carolina Stingrays. It will be Evansville's only 2015-16 meeting with the defending Kelly Cup runners-up.

RABBIT SEASON

Greenville rides a three-game winning streak into this weekend where the team formerly known as the Road Warriors will host three different opponents. The Swamp Rabbits welcome division rivals Atlanta and Florida to Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville Friday and Sunday, respectively, with Saturday's Halloween game against Evansville sandwiched in between. The IceMen will face a Swamp Rabbits team that swept the Stingrays last weekend and capped it off with a win Sunday over the Florida Everblades. Greenville's Adam Morrison was named the ECHL's CCM Goaltender of the Week after going 2-0 with a 1.97 goals-against average and 92.3 save percentage.

ONLY STINGER

Sunday's game between the IceMen and Stingrays will be the only meeting between the two teams in 2015-16. Evansville makes one more road trip out to South Carolina in January, but will bypass Charleston on its way from Greenville (Jan. 22) to Atlanta (Jan. 23). Last season, the Stingrays finished second in their division before streaking all the way to the Kelly Cup Finals. South Carolina fell just short of the title, losing in seven games to the Allen Americans. After winning their 2015-16 opener, the Stingrays dropped four games in a row before winning Wednesday night against Florida. South Carolina stays in Florida for another game against the Everblades Friday night, before returning home to host the IceMen Sunday afternoon at 3pm Eastern.

CARLISLE CALL-UP

Evansville's AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Senators, recalled rookie defenseman Chris Carlisle from loan Monday. The 20-year-old is the first IceMen player called up this season. Carlisle recorded two assists in his first two professional games, Evansville's 3-1 loss to Indy on Oct. 17 and 2-1 loss to Toledo last Saturday. The IceMen now carry eight defensemen, including Chris Rumble and Michael Trebish, who are looking to earn their first ice time of the season.

SHOOTING GALLERY

The IceMen are averaging 36.5 shots per game, which is second best in the ECHL after two weeks. Evansville outshot its opponents in both games, but have had trouble putting the puck in the net. In the season opener, Evansville recorded 34 shots with one goal to show for it. Saturday the IceMen put up 39 shots on goal, 19 of which were in the third period, and were only able to muster up one goal. On the flip side, Evansville has only allowed 2.5 goals per game, which is eighth in the league.
