IceMen Acquire Forward Matt Lowry from Greenville

EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- The Evansville IceMen have acquired forward Matt Lowry from the Greenville Road Warriors.

Lowry, 25, becomes the eleventh forward on the preseason roster for the IceMen. The team now has 21 players (11 forwards, eight defensemen, two goalies) on roster for the 2013-14 training camp, which commences this Friday. "There's a lot of good things going on here," Lowry said. "There's been a change since last year and a new coach, and I was pleased to hear that. I'm happy to come to Evansville."

The 6'0", 185-pound center played in nine games for Greenville (ECHL) in 2012-13, as he produced four points on one goal and three assists. Lowry appeared in 56 games for the Elmira Jackals, also of the ECHL, during the 2009-10 campaign. There, he totaled 21 points on seven goals and 14 assists.

The Neepawa, Man. native played two seasons at the University of Manitoba from 2011-13. He played in 56 games and notched 41 points on 16 goals and 25 assists with the Bison. Lowry held a +4 rating in his collegiate career.

The right-handed shooter played his four-year junior career in the WHL, two seasons with the Brandon Wheat Kings (2007-09) and the Medicine Hat Tigers (2005-07). In his WHL career, Lowry played in 209 contests, amassing 160 points on 47 goals and 113 assists. He was a +26.

Lowry also brings a dose of AHL experience, as he appeared in 12 games with the Binghamton Senators, whose parent affiliate is the Ottawa Senators, during the 2009-10 season.
