Rockford IceHogs News Release
Rockford, Ill. - With some extra free time available before training camp begins, ten players from the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League have stepped up to join Make-A-Wish and the 11th Annual World's Largest Ice Cream Social on Thursday, Sept. 27 at Cold Stone Creamery in Rockford.
Kyle Beach, Mac Carruth, Jimmy Hayes, Joe Lavin, Nick Leddy, Jeremy Morin, Brandon Pirri, Kent Simpson, Ben Smith and Ryan Stanton will join Rockford area wish kids Hailey and Abagail to serve as Celebrity Scoopers from 5-9 p.m. on Thursday at the Rockford Cold Stone Creamery location (653 South Perryville Road).
Throughout the day on Sept. 27, Cold Stone Creamery stores in Rockford, Peoria, and Normal, along with additional stores nationwide, will donate $1 from the sale of any "Love It" or "Gotta Have It" size Ice Cream, Yogurt or Sorbet Creation to Make-A-Wish. Hailey's wish to go on a Disney Cruise came true recently and Abagail's wish to go visit Disneyworld was also granted.
The following is a schedule of when each player will be scooping ice cream:
5-6 p.m. - Joe Lavin and Ben Smith
6-7 p.m. - Nick Leddy and Jimmy Hayes
7-8 p.m. - Kyle Beach, Mac Carruth and Kent Simpson
8-9 p.m. - Brandon Pirri, Jeremy Morin and Ryan Stanton
RAVE Executive Director Gordon Kaye will also be having a little fun for charity on Thursday as he participates in the Have Your Cake and Eat It Too fundraiser from 5-8 p.m. to benefit Rosie's Birthday Club.
Kaye will be paired up with other local celebrities to help decorate cakes made by local bakeries to be auctioned off. The Radisson Hotel and Conference Center (200 S. Bell School Road, Rockford) will host the event. Proceeds from the cake-decorating event will go to the club as they raise money to give birthday presents to children who might not otherwise get to celebrate their birthday.
