Monsters Announce 2012-13 Broadcast Schedule
September 26, 2012 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Cleveland Monsters News Release
Lake Erie Monsters fans in Cleveland will once again be able to listen live to every one of the team's 76 regular season games on the Monsters Radio Network this season. On Wednesday the Monsters announced their complete broadcast schedule for 2012-13, which marks the third straight year that all games will be carried live over the radio. The schedule also features 10 televised games.
Serving as co-flagship stations again for the third straight year, ESPN 850 WKNR and AM 1220 WHKW will each carry 38 games live beginning with the season opener on Friday, October 12th, 2012. The 2012-13 season marks the sixth year that ESPN 850 WKNR will be carrying Monsters games, while Salem Communications-owned AM 1220 WHKW The Word will be airing games for the third time (also simulcast on AM 1440 WHKZ in Warren).
Additionally, for the fifth consecutive year the Monsters will partner with both FOX Sports Ohio and MY43 THE BLOCK WUAB to televise 10 games during the 2012-13 season. FOX Sports Ohio (five games) is the official Cable and Satellite Home of the Monsters, while MY43 THE BLOCK WUAB (five games) is the official Over the Air TV Home of Monsters. All telecasts will be simulcast live on either ESPN 850 WKNR or AM 1220 WHKW radio.
Handling the calls once again on both the radio and television sides will be Doug Plagens, who enters his second season as the Voice of the Monsters. He serves in the same capacity for the Cleveland Gladiators, Quicken Loans Arena's Arena Football League team.
Plagens will be joined on television broadcasts by Cleveland hockey legend and Monsters assistant coach/Director of Hockey Operations & Team Services, Jock Callander, who will provide color commentary. Veteran Cleveland sports broadcaster Kenny Roda will return for his fifth season as rinkside reporter and intermission host on all telecasts in 2012-13.
