March 8, 2017 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Rockford IceHogs News Release

Rockford, Ill. - The Rockford IceHogs will be taking to the lanes with fans for the eighth annual Bowl-A-Thon on Saturday, March 11 at Cherry Bowl from 1-3 p.m. Registration begins at noon.

IceHogs players, coaches and team personnel will be at Cherry Bowl on March 11 to bowl with fans and raise money for the IceHogs Charitable Foundation. A portion of the afternoon's proceeds will also benefit Families with HD Rooted in Hope, Inc, a nonprofit foundation that provides support and services to families affected by Huntington's Disease.

Due to cancellations, two lanes have opened for the event. Admission is $50 per bowler or $175 for a team of four, which includes two games of bowling, shoe and ball rental, and a raffle ticket for a chance to win some great prizes for each participant. All IceHogs players have already been assigned to a bowling lane, but fans who purchase a remaining lane will join other team personnel for the event on Saturday. Participants are also encouraged to mingle with the entire team throughout the event. To reserve a lane, please call (815) 847-6399.

Fans interested in attending the event, but not bowling, can purchase a $10 viewing ticket that will include an entry into the general raffle and access to autographs and photographs with the team. Viewing tickets can be purchased by calling (815) 847-6399, or at the door on March 11 at Cherry Bowl.

Along with the general raffle, this year's fundraiser will also include a 50/50 and premium-prize raffle. Premium tickets will be sold for $5 each (or $20 for five tickets), and prizes include Chicago Blackhawks tickets, game-worn IceHogs jerseys, a suite for an IceHogs game, Club Lounge tickets to a Hogs home game and an IceHogs team-signed stick.

Team merchandise will be available for purchase and will include exclusive Bowl-A-Thon items only available on Saturday. Fans will have the opportunity to get gear signed by IceHogs players.

A portion of proceeds from Bowl-A-Thon and each IceHogs raffle will go to benefitting Families with HD Rooted in Hope, Inc. The organization was founded and is supported by IceHogs captain Jake Dowell, and Jake's mother, Vicki, as a resource to assist families affected Huntington's Disease.

Jake lost his father, John, to Huntington's Disease in 2014, and his older brother, Luke, is currently battling HD. Jake received news in December, 2015 that he does not carry the gene affected by Huntington's Disease.
