IceHogs go prehistoric for this year's auction

Rockford, Ill.- Over the past seven seasons, the Rockford IceHogs have set an unprecedented standard in double-A professional hockey with its annual jersey auction. On Tuesday, at a press conference held at Saturn of Rockford, the IceHogs announced the logo and theme for the auction's 8th edition.

The IceHogs have teamed up with the Burpee Museum in Rockford for the 2006-07 jersey as Hammysaurus Rex was unveiled as the Hogs jersey auction theme. The IceHogs will wear special commemorative jerseys featuring Hammysaurus Rex when they face-off against the Quad City Mallards on Saturday, March 3 at 7:05 p.m. at the Rockford MetroCentre. Following the game, the IceHogs will auction off the players' jerseys during a live auction.

All proceeds from the Annual Jersey Auction will benefit the Rockford IceHogs Charitable Foundation. The IceHogs Charitable Foundation will distribute the proceeds to several not-for-profit organizations including the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Rockford, Burpee Museum, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Northern Illinois Hospice, the Boys and Girls Club of Rockford, Jr. IceHogs, Big Brothers and Big Sisters and others.

Since the jersey auction's inception during the 1999-2000 season, the IceHogs and its generous fans have helped raise nearly $400,000 during seven auctions. The Hogs will hold a silent auction and raffle as well with proceeds benefiting the IceHogs Charitable Foundation as well as the MDA of Rockford. A raffle will also be held for a chance to win a personalized Hammysaurus Rex Jersey Auction jersey.

Three lucky fans that comes out to the Hogs-Mallards contest on March 3 will also have an opportunity to win a new car courtesy of Saturn of Rockford. The fans will be selected at random and will have a chance at winning a brand new 2007 Saturn Sky.
