IceHogs to host two doubleheaders

Rockford, Ill.- Rockford IceHogs fans will get a rare opportunity to catch a pair of hockey doubleheaders. The IceHogs will play a pair of games on Friday, March 2 and Saturday, March 3 and prior to both of those contests, the United States Hockey League's Chicago Steel will face off against the Sioux City Musketeers.
Fans who purchase or already have tickets for the IceHogs games on March 2 and 3 can also catch the Steel-Musketeers game at the MetroCentre. Rockford native and former Rockford Icemen standout Troy Mattila is a member of the Steel, who play in nearby Bensenville, Ill. Mattila was a seventh round draft pick of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders in last June's NHL Entry Draft.
The USHL is the country's top junior hockey league and houses some of the top, young hockey prospects from the U.S. Many of the players in the USHL will go on to play college hockey and professional hockey. The age range of skaters in the USHL is from 15-19 years old.
The Steel and Musketeers will drop the puck on March 2 at 3:30 p.m. Doors for the tilt will open at 2:30 p.m. The game is a prelude to the IceHogs-Port Huron Flags match-up that will begin at 7:30 p.m. The first 1,000 fans to the game will receive IceHogs Poster #6 from Pepsi, Medicine Man, Johnson Press and the Rockford Register Star.
On March 3, Chicago and Sioux City will face-off for the second game in a row and the puck will drop at 3 p.m. with doors opening at 2 p.m. That game comes before another IceHogs-Quad City Mallards battle at 7:05 p.m. March 3 is the IceHogs 8th Annual Jersey Auction Night and the first 1,000 fans to the MetroCentre will receive a T-shirt featuring the Jersey Auction logo from Saturn of Rockford, Ameriprise Financial, Axberg Heating and Dental Dimensions. Giveaways on both March 2 and 3 will be handed out when the doors open for the Steel game.

Next Homestand: Friday, Feb. 9 vs. Flint Generals. Game time is 7:30 p.m. The Hogs and Generals meet up at the MetroCentre once again. The first 1,000 fans to the game will receive IceHogs Poster #5 from Pepsi, Medicine Man, Johnson Press and the Rockford Register Star.
Saturday, Feb. 10 vs. Muskegon Fury. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. The UHL's top team returns to the MetroCentre. The first 1,000 fans to the game and through the turnstiles will pick up a Hammy Hog Piggy Bank from Members Alliance Credit Union and 23WIFR.
