Louisiana IceGators News Release
Lafayette, LA â The Louisiana IceGators started their speaking tour Thursday, as general manager Brian Kelley, head coach and vice president of hockey operations Dave Farrish and media relations and multi-media manager Ryan Stanzel visited the Crowley Kiwanis Club. The IceGators have nearly a dozen talks scheduled with civic organizations in the coming weeks, with more to be scheduled.
"It is important for the us to spread the word about the IceGators and their new ownership group," said Kelley. "Our owners are local businesspeople, just like most of the people we are talking to. They can appreciate the hard work we are putting into making this team survive, and thrive, for a long time to come."
The IceGators are stressing community involvement to the civic organizations, including the team's brand new free Clawd's Krewe Kids Club.
The speaking tour is in no way limited to Lafayette or Acadiana. Kelley is going to speak to the Baton Rouge Capital City Kiwanis Club on August 6, and trips to Lake Charles and other surrounding areas are planned as well.
"There are a lot of hockey fans in Louisiana," added Kelley. "The more of them that we can talk to about our community initiatives and what we bring to the state, the better. It will be the business community throughout Southern Louisiana, along with the fans throughout Acadiana that will determine the success of this franchise. It is our job to make them aware of all the different ways the IceGators organization has benefited, and will benefit, our area."
More stops will be added in the near future. If you are interested in having a member of the IceGators speaking bureau talk to your organization, please contact Stanzel at (337)234-4423, ext. 209.
The IceGators open up the season October 17 at home against arch-rival Mississippi. Full season ticket packages, half season plans and Ice Packs are on sale now and can be purchased by calling (337)234-4423.
