IceGators Prepare to Ground the Flyers

Lafayette, LA-Last weekend the IceGators had their best weekend of the season getting five points. Currently the 'Gators sit seven points out of sixth place and 16 points out of fifth. This weekend is another pivotal weekend for the 'Gators. Saturday, February 20at 7:05, the IceGators are taking on the Pensacola Ice Flyers (19-15-8). This will be the tenth meeting of the season with Pensacola leading the season series 5-3-1. The 'Gators won the only matchup in overtime.

The teams last meet on February 11 with the 'Gators making a statement winning 6-0. Goalie, AJ Bucchino (LOU) led the team to the victory with 40 saves and holding on the to the shutout. Josh Bonar (LOU) had one goal and two assists and Cam Lilley (LOU) had two goals.

This match-up against the Ice Flyers will be one of the last four meetings. The teams will meet in Lafayette one more time after Saturday and two times in Pensacola.

"This is a huge weekend for us," stated coach Dave MacIsaac. "If we can have a few more weekends like last weekend we will make the playoffs. We have to take it one game at a time but this weekend together is crucial."

The IceGators are going to be honoring the Boy Scouts from the area.

The IceGators will go on the road to battle the Knoxville IceBears on Tuesday, February 23 at 6:35. The 'Gators return home next weekend for two games against Knoxville (February 25, 7:05) and Pensacola (February 27, 7:05).
