IceGators Fall To Gladiators 2-1

Lafayette, LA â The Louisiana IceGators dropped game two of the Central Division Finals to the Gwinnett Gladiators by a score of 2-1. The IceGators defeated the Gladiators in game one on Friday with a third period rally that saw three late goals lift the Gators to the win.
Bobby Brown lit the lamp first for the Gators. With the Gators on the man-advantage, Ben Storey shot the puck along the blue line to Brown. Brown grabbed the puck and skated down the far wing before cutting across the circle toward Michael Garnett. Brown took a shot, corralled the rebound and skated behind Garnett's cage before the Gwinnett netminder could get back on his skates. Brown slid the puck in the open side of the net and the Gators had a 1-0 lead.
The Gladiators pulled even with a power play goal of their own, with less than two minutes left in the period. Chris Durno caught a rebound off Derek Gustafson's left pad and lifted it into the back of the net.
Despite putting 14 shots on Garnett, the Gators were unable to solve the Gladiators' netminder in the second period. Gwinnett put their second goal, and the eventual game-winner, on the board at the 3:28 mark. Kevin Doell took a shot from the near circle that bounced off Derek Gustafson's shoulder, hit the cross bar and flew into the net.
Gwinnett kept the Gators to just four shots on the goal in the third period, but they were also kept to just five shots themselves. The series will move to Duluth, GA for games three and four. Game three will be Wednesday, April 21 at 6:35 p.m. CDT. Game four will be Friday, April 23, also at 6:35 p.m. CDT. IceGators games are broadcast on 105.1 FM KPEL, with the IceGators pre-game show starting 15 minutes before game time.
