Atlanta Gladiators News Release

Kevin Doell's first goal of the post season gave the Gladiators a 2-1 lead early in the second period of Game #2 and Gwinnett held on for the win tying the best of five Division Finals series with the Louisiana IceGators at a game apiece on Saturday night in Lafayette, Louisiana.

With time running down on a Louisiana power play Bobby Brown picked up the rebound on his own shot along the goal line, slid behind the Gladiators net and jammed a wrap around past Gladiators netminder Michael Garnett to give the IceGators a 1-0 lead. Ben Story and Matt Dzieduszycki added the assists on the power play goal at 7:34 of the opening period.

Gwinnett tied the contest on the power play late in the period with Alex Materukhin in the penalty box for a double-minor high sticking penalty. Chris Dunro tallied his third goal of the post season as he picked up a rebound on the slot and jammed home the rebound off of Troy Milam's slap shot from the right point. Kris Goodjohn also added an assist on the power play goal at 18:45 of the first period.

Kevin Doell gave the Gladiators a 2-1 lead early in the second period with his first marker of the post season. The ECHL's rookie of the year broke into the Louisiana zone on a 2-on-1 break with Cam Brown and ripped a shot over the shoulder of Gustafson at 3:58 of the middle stanza for the tally.

The Gladiators lead stood through the third period as the IceGators pulled Gustafson late in the final period but could not beat Garnett in the final seconds. Garnett made 28 saves for the Gladiators in the win while the Gladiators tallied their first power play goal of the series.
