Louisiana IceGators News Release

Bloomington, Ill.--So close, but yet so far away.

One night after giving up the game-winning goal to Bloomington with 12 seconds remaining in overtime, the Louisiana IceGators suffered another heartbreak. The IceGators let a 3-2 third-period lead slip through their claws, giving up three late goals to lose 5-3 to the Bloomington Thunder. Burke Gallimore scored the eventual game-winner at the 13:37 mark of the final frame.

The IceGators return to the Cajundome Friday night to finish the four-game series against the Thunder. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

"Turnovers and a lack of commitment to work ethic and finished checks cost us the game," said IceGators head coach Kevin Kaminski. "That's our identity, and if you don't have all 18 guys pulling in the same direction, it's not going to work.

"We came back to make it 3-2. We had all the momentum, but we gave it back. We have to be disciplined in our puck decisions, finish our checks, and we must put urgency into our systems for all 60 minutes of the game."

Bloomington opened the scoring in the second period with back-to-back goals. Kyle Watson scored on a Daniel Barczuk assist at the 3:29 mark. Barczuk added a goal of his own on a power play with 24 seconds remaining in the period.

The IceGators made a furious comeback early in the third period, scoring three goals in quick succession. Matt Robertson put Louisiana on the board at the 2:22 minute of the frame off a Jason Cohen assist. One minute later, Adam Stuart tied the game off assists from Cohen and Shawn McNeil. McNeil then scored a goal of his own at the 6:22 mark to give the IceGators a 3-2 lead.

Bloomington, however, would not be denied. Tyler Noseworthy tied the game with 12:31 left in the game. Gallimore scored a little more than one minute later to give the Thunder the 4-3 lead. Former IceGator Denis Sicard added an insurance goal on an empty net with nine seconds left in the game.

Kaminski summary of his team's performance was short, citing something he felt was lacking during the game.

"It's called mental toughness," he said. "We were soft in that department tonight.
