The Niagara IceDogs emerged victorious over the Erie Otters with a 6-3 win tonight. Tonight's game marks the fourth straight win for the 'Dogs.

Despite the IceDogs outshooting Erie 15-10, the first period remained scoreless. The IceDogs successfully killed off the sole full penalty of the frame.

The 'Dogs kicked off the game's scoring with four goals in the second period! On a powerplay that extended from the first, Jack Studnicka opened the scoring. From the faceoff circle, Jason Robertson sent a pass to Ben Jones at the side of the net. Jones passed to Studnicka in the slot, who got his goal off his rebounded shot on Erie's netminder. A few minutes later, Jonathon Schaefer skated around the net and through the defensive zone, passing to Jonah De Simone at the red line. De Simone went blazing up the wing to score the second of the night! Erie notched a goal before one of their powerplays expired, cutting the lead to 4-2. The 'Dogs didn't let Erie's goal go unanswered, scoring the other two goals within two minutes of the end of the period. Kirill Maksimov fired a one-timer from the faceoff circle for his 200th OHL career point! The assists were credited to Jason Robertson and Matt Brassard. Fifty seconds later, Brassard scored one of his own off the edge of the faceoff circle! Robertson and Studnicka were credited with the assists.

The 'Dogs exchanged goals with the Otters in the third. Erie scored, cutting the lead to 4-2. From the boards, Robertson passed to Studnicka in the slot, slipping it to Jones at the crease. Jones hammered his powerplay goal in after a couple of tries. Erie answered with one of their own, making the lead 5-3. In the last minute of the period, Akil Thomas scored an unassisted empty netter to lock in the 6-3 win! His wraparound empty netter got 'Dogs fans at the Meridian Centre a cheeseburger.

In tonight's 6-3 win, Robertson got four assists and Thomas extended his point streak to seven games.

After two away games in southwestern Ontario this weekend against Sarnia and Windsor, the 'Dogs come back to town on January 31st! Their game on the last day of the month is against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.
