IceCaps to Wear Special Sport NL Hall of Fame Jerseys

The St. John's IceCaps will wear special white, red and blue jerseys during Wednesday night's contest at Mile One Centre versus the Hamilton Bulldogs to mark the upcoming 2014 Sport Newfoundland and Labrador (Sport NL) Hall of Fame festivities.

The "Stars and Legends" jerseys will be auctioned off in support of the many programs and services Sport NL offers. Additionally, this year's inductees will be honoured during a pre-game ceremony.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Sports Hall of Fame is designed to pay tribute to individuals on the basis of playing ability, sportsmanship, character and extraordinary distinction in sport. The 2014 inductees are:

- Colin Abbott in the "Athlete" category (Softball)

- Lee Churchill in the "Athlete" category (Country Skiing)

- Maxwell "Max" Kirby in the "Athlete/Veteran" category (Track and Field)

- Gerald A. Rideout in the "Builder" category (Cross Country Skiing)

- Andy Sullivan in the "Athlete" category (Ice Hockey)

- Raymond "Ray" Will in the "Athlete/Builder" category (Track and Field)

Now in its sixth year, the Stars and Legends Awards Gala and Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place at the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland on Saturday, April 12th at 6:30 PM. Tickets for this event can be purchased by contacting Sport Newfoundland and Labrador at 576-4932.
