St. John's IceCaps News Release
For the third consecutive year, the St. John's IceCaps will partner with NTV and the Salvation Army to help bring joy to children at Christmas.
The NTV Teddy Toss will take place during the IceCaps game this Friday (December 6th) against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Fans are asked to bring a stuffed toy, wrapped in a clear plastic bag, and deposit it on the ice during the second intermission. The Salvation Army will collect and deliver the toys to kids in need.
Last year, more than 3,000 teddy bears were collected at an IceCaps game versus the Springfield Falcons.
"Partnering with NTV and the Salvation Army for the Teddy Toss is one of the highlights of the season for IceCaps Care and the Williams Family Foundation," said IceCaps President and CEO Danny Williams. "Just like our fans, we look forward to this interactive event that enables us all to give back to the community at this special time of year."
"The Teddy Toss means so much to NTV. Every year we look forward to it and sharing in the magic of the Holiday season," said Sharon Snow of NTV. "In partnership with the Salvation Army and the IceCaps, giving back to those in need in our province in such a wonderful display of caring and generosity makes this event so special. We're so very pleased to be a part of this Christmas family tradition in this province."
"The Salvation Army would like to thank the St. John's IceCaps, NTV and the fans for their ongoing support," said Salvation Army Major Ken Ritson. "The NTV Teddy Toss will once again bring bright smiles to the faces of children this Christmas. Together we can make a difference."
As part of the evening's festivities, NTV will be broadcasting live from Mile One Centre and the Salvation Army band will entertain fans on the concourse before the game.
