
IceCaps Drop 5-4 Heartbreaker to Phantoms

ST. JOHN'S, NL - The Lehigh Valley Phantoms scored five unanswered goals to top the St. John's IceCaps 5-4 in overtime on Tuesday night at Mile One Centre.
The IceCaps potted two goals just 21 seconds apart in the first frame to take the lead. Mark MacMillan potted his sixth of the season off a play from Bobby Farnham and Max Friberg. Jeremy Gregoire scored next with Ryan Johnston and MacMillan picking up the helpers.
St. John's would go on to score two more in the second frame. Jacob de la Rose scored a shorthanded tally, assisted by Joel Hanley. Daniel Audette broke his 27-game goalless streak with a marker later in the period from Friberg and Daniel Carr.
The Phantoms came back with a late marker in the second frame from Cole Bardreau and continued their momentum in the final frame with three unanswered goals to send it to overtime. Lehigh Valley's T.J. Brennan found the back of the net with just 34 seconds gone in the extra frame to win it for the visitors.
IceCaps' netminder Charlie Lindgren stopped 33-of-38 shots in the loss, while Phantoms' netminder Anthony Stolarz turned aside 29 for the win.
The IceCaps rematch the Lehigh Valley Phantoms tomorrow night (Wednesday - 7:30 PM) before a Saturday and Sunday back-to-back 4:00 PM matchup against the Hershey Bears during Family Weekend.
