Ice Wolves Lose to Lone Star, 4-1

In the second game of the 3-in-3 series between the Ice Wolves and the Brahmas the scoring was a lot closer, and so were the shots. The Brahmas entered tonight's games ranked first in the league (17-5-0-1, 35PTS). As for New Mexico they sit in last place in the league (4-17-0-1, 9PTS).
The Ice Wolves once again opened up the scoring after Alex Gomez (3) split the Brahmas defense and beat Ludvig Persson. His goal came 13:07 into the opening frame. When the horn sounded the Ice Wolves lead on the score sheet (1-0) and in shots (11-9).
For the second consecutive night the Brahmas tallied three goals in the middle period. All before the halfway mark of the period. Their first goal came via power play off the stick of Evan Googins (7). Then Joey Baez (13) launched a horizontal shot towards Henrik Laursen that bounced off of his stick and into the back of the net. Thomas Daskas (8) became the third goal scorer for the Brahmas after he was able to sneak the puck past Laursen. Resulting in a 3-1 Lone Star lead heading into the locker room after 40 minutes of play. Shots were 27-21 in favor of Lone Star.
In the final period of regulation things started to slow down in terms of shots but certainly not physical play. There was a lot of back-and-forth amongst players throughout the final 20 minutes of play. As the time was winding down in the game Phil Fox pulled Laursen in hopes of trying to tie the game. While the Ice Wolves had some offensive pressure with the 6-on-5 advantage they were unable to beat Persson. With just .03 left on the clock Matt Guerra (5) scored on the empty net giving his team their fourth-straight win. As for the Ice Wolves it marked their third-straight loss.
The final scored read 4-1 Lone Star but shots were extremely close as the Brahmas only outshot the Ice Wolves by one (32-31). The final home game for the Ice Wolves for the next month will be played tomorrow at 7:00 p.m.
