Ice Pilots' forward participates in skills competition tonight

The RBK Hockey ECHL All-Star festivities kick-off tonight (Tuesday) with the Skills Competition in Boise Idaho.

Pensacola Ice Pilots' forward Rob Rankin will be front and center participating in the skills competition. Rankin is scheduled to take part in the fastest skater event.

Fans can watch the skills competition live on the B2 Networks for free beginning at 8pm central, 7 pm mountain time, but must have high speed internet in order to watch the event. To view the skills competition, just go to www.echl.com and follow the instructions.

Here is a rundown of fastest skater event as well as the other skills competition events slated for this evening.

The Rbk Hockey Fastest Skater competition will feature Pensacola's Rob Rankin, Wheeling's Joe Jensen and Augusta's Ryan Lang for the American Conference and Bakersfield's Todd Griffith, Las Vegas' Jason Krischuk and Stockton's Troy Bodie. The ECHL record for fastest skater is 13.395 by Jeff Lazaro in 1998.

Competing in the In Glas Co Puck Control Relay will be Texas' Mike Madill, Gwinnett's Brad Schell and Wheeling's Paul Bissonnette for the American Conference against Utah's Andy Sertich, Alaska's Kevin Croxton and Fresno's Luke Curtin for the National Conference. In the one-on-one Puck Control Relay sponsored by In Glas Co, Columbia's Mike Jarmuth will compete for the American Conference against Las Vegas' Tyler Mosienko.

In the Rbk Hockey Rapid Fire competition, the American Conference will have Toledo's Jamie Tardif and Charlotte's Bruce Graham against Las Vegas' Mike McKenna; Texas' Kevin Baker and Gwinnett's Colton Fretter against Stockton's Devan Dubnyk and Toledo's Ken Magowan; and Johnstown's Maxime Boisclair against Fresno's Ryan MacDonald. The National Conference will have Bakersfield's Todd Griffith and Phoenix's Dave Pszenyczny against Dayton's Adam Berkhoel, Victoria's Milan Gajic and Long Beach's Brandon Schwartz against Cincinnati's Cedrick Desjardins and Stockton's Nathan Martz and Idaho's Derek Nesbitt against Florida's David Shantz.

In the CCM Vector Hardest Shot competition, the American Conference will have Reading's Greg Hogeboom, Texas' Paul Albers, South Carolina's T.J. McElroy and Gwinnett's Jon Awe against Idaho's Derek Nesbitt, Fresno's Tom Walsh, Bakersfield's Rane Carnegie and Idaho's Darrell Hay. The ECHL record for hardest shot is 99.3 mph by Jaroslav Obsut in 1999.

In the MeiGray Group Accuracy Shooting Competition, the shooters for the American Conference will be Reading's Greg Hogeboom, Trenton's John Laliberte and Gwinnett's Colton Fretter while competing for the National Conference will be Stockton's Beau Geisler, Alaska's Julian Talbot and Idaho's Greg Rallo.
