Indiana Ice News Release
INDIANAPOLIS-The Indiana Ice begin their quest for the 2014 Clark Cup Championship on Saturday as the team opens the regular season at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube against Team USA U18 at 7:00 pm.
Indy posted a 4-4-1 record against Team USA last season and this will be the first of eight matches between the squads in the 2013-14 campaign.
Seven players will be making repeat performances after spending the 2012-2013 season in the "Circle City." Tyler Pham, Patrick Newell, Mitch Hults and Jason Salvaggio look to provide the veteran scoring touch for the Ice this season while Jake Cass, Joshua Jacobs and Vince Pedrie will return to tend the blue line for Indy.
Indy used five picks in the first round 2013 USHL Entry Draft to bulk up the roster with some of the nation's top young hockey talent, including the acquisitions of NHL Draft selections Aidan Muir (Edmonton) and Brian Pinho (Washington).
The draft also allowed Indy to boost their junior hockey experience in the form of Scott Conway (Texas-NAHL) and Jason Pawloski (Austin-NAHL).
Internationally, the Ice host a pair of players from outside the US in Austin Kosack and Samu Perhonen. Kosack (Oakville, ONT) finished fourth among OJHL defensemen in assists during the 2012-2013 campaign while Perhonen (Jamsa, FIN) was one of the top young goaltenders in Finland.
Hockey returns to Indy next weekend as the Ice will host the Sioux Falls Stampede on Saturday, September 27 at 7:05 pm from Pan Am Pavilion. The team will open the Bankers Life Fieldhouse portion of the schedule on Saturday, October 12 against the Youngstown Phantoms at 7:05 pm.
Season, group, and individual tickets are now on sale for all 2013-2014 Indiana Ice home games. Flex packages and additional ticket packages are available starting as low as $50. For more information, call the Indiana Ice at (317) 925-4423.
