Keystone Ice Miners News Release

BLAINE, MN - Matt Jones scored twice late in the second period to help the Ice Miners rally back from down 2-0, but Aberdeen scored twice in the first minute of the third, in a 4-3 Wings victory on Friday night at the NAHL Showcase.

The Wings led 2-0 after the first period when Matt Sherman and Kyle Haak (PPG) scored for Aberdeen against Nick Kossoff, making his NAHL debut between the pipes for Keystone. Late in the 2nd period, Ice Miners forward Matt Jones scored back to back goals, 26 seconds apart at 16:11 and 16:37, tying the game through 40 minutes. Defenseman Dylan DeCandia registered his first NAHL point, assisting on Jones' first goal.

Aberdeen would regain the lead 40 seconds into the third period when Jack Nile finished off an impressive passing play and deked Kossoff. Just 15 seconds later, Tucker DeYong scored from a bad angle, giving Aberdeen another two goal advantage. At the 4:24 mark, Jon Hall deflected a shot from Alex Archibald for a powerplay goal, bringing the score back to 4-3. The Ice Miners would have two more powerplay chances and pulled their goalie in the final minute, but could not find the tying goal.

The Ice Miners fell to 0-2-1 in the Showcase and 1-2-1 on the season. They finish the Showcase schedule at 10:30 AM ET/9:30 CT against the South Division's Corpus Christi IceRays. The game will be broadcast on FASTHockey.com.
