Blizzard Impressive in Day 3 Win

The Blizzard were impressive today in a 4-2 victory over the Soo Eagles on day three of the 2014 NAHL Showcase in Blaine, MN.
One day after recording their first victory of the season, the Blizzard carried the momentum over to this morning's game against the Eagles. Defenseman Zach Kramer scored the first goal of his young career during the opening period of the game. The Blizzard went on the power play late in the first period and Kramer found open space in front of the net and put the puck away to give the Blizzard a 1-0 going into the locker room. Veteran forward Beau Michaud and newcomer Connor Hutchins assisted on the goal.
The Blizzard's Tyler Frischmon would be called for a hooking penalty early in the second period and the Eagles would capitalize on the man advantage. Bruno Birzitis scored the power play goal at the 2:30 mark to tie the game 1-1. Kristofers Bindulis would get the assisted.
After the game was tied, the Blizzard would dominate the rest of the period out shooting the Eagles 14-9 in the frame. The Blizzard were also able to find the back of the net three times in the period.
5:58 into the second period, talented defenseman Alex Copa would give the Blizzard a 2-1 lead. Truman Gonzales and Jordan Williamson would be credited with the assist.
Later in the period, Beau Michaud scored on the power play off an assist from Copa. Michaud has been very impressive in the young season. He recorded his third straight multi-point game and has 7 points, which is in the top ten in the NAHL.
Ryan Sete made the score 4-1 when he found the back of the net with 5:42 left in the second period. Caleb Pola and Tyler Frischmon had the assist on the play.
The Soo Eagles would get one more late power play goal by Trevor Cope, but it wasn't enough as the Blizzard moved to 2-1 on the season with the 4-2 victory.
Eric Hancock bounced back well in goal for the Blizzard. He had 26 saves on 28 shots in his first win of the season.
The Blizzard are now 2-1-0 and will face the Minnesota Wilderness tomorrow at 3:30pm at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, MN. The two teams split during the preseason, each winning at home. The game can be seen on FastHockey.com.
