Keystone Ice Miners News Release

CONNELLSVILLE, PA - Noah Batis brought the Ice Miners from down 2-1 to up 3-2 midway through the third period, but a quick answer by the Tomahawks tied the game and Johnstown went on to win in a shootout, as the two teams split the weekend home-and-home.

The Tomahawks scored first for the second consecutive night as Joe Drabin netted a powerplay goal at 3:03 of the first period, the only goal of the frame. Andrew Romano and Jake Houston had the helpers.

In the 2nd period, it took the Ice Miners only 33 seconds to even the score when Taylor Fernandez was set up by Jon Hall and Cameron Smith, for his first goal of the season. Later on in the stanza, Casey Linkenheld scored his 2nd goal in as many games and restored the Johnstown lead at 11:59. Johnstown led 2-1 after two.

In the third, the Ice Miners struck early again as Batis buried Alex Archibald's rebound at 1:18. Batis would then give the Ice Miners their first lead, with a powerplay goal at 10:10. The lead would last only 21 seconds, however as Luke Lynch knotted the score with a backhanded shot past Keystone goaltender Alex Blankenburg. The Ice Miners killed off a penalty in overtime but couldn't solve Ryan Bednard in the shootout, as he stopped all five attempts. Tanner Barnes deked Blankenburg for the only Tomahawks goal and it was enough for the victor. The Tomahawks improved to 5-6-0 and the Ice Miners fell to 7-6-2.

After another week off, Keystone will continue its homestand against the first place Janesville Jets on November 7th and 8th, at 7:30 both nights. Tickets can be purchased online at keystoneiceminershockey.com or by calling 724-970-6228.
