Ice Inches Closer to Playoff Berth

The Ice completed a grueling seven games in nine days stretch which included six road contests with a respectable 3-3-1 record. Indy's lead in the Northeast Division and Northern Conference is at a comfortable nine-point margin over the Memphis RiverKings and ten points over this week's opponent, Oklahoma City. The Ice arguably has the toughest schedule of any team in the CHL in these final two weeks of the regular season as the seven-game stretch includes five games with three of the top five teams in the CHL (Austin-2, Memphis-1, Oklahoma City-2).

FRANCHISE SUCCESS STORY: Saturday's crowd of 14,739 at the team's eighth annual Pack the House game was the second largest in franchise history and the biggest crowd in the teams' four years in the CHL. The single-game attendance record featured the Ice and Fort Wayne Komets during the IHL days, as 15,275 fans showed up on 2/15/97 to Market Square Arena on Pack the House Night II.

BIG PLAY BOARD: Jason Baird has a six-game point streak that includes nine points (3G, 6A), while Randy Holmes has a six-game point streak of his own that consists of six points (1G, 5A)...Kevin St. Jacques posted his team-leading eighth three-or-more point game in Sunday's win at Wichita ...Jared Dumba, who has a goal in three straight games, has seven goals in his last eight games and leads all Icemen in goals (30), power play goals (10) and multiple goal games (7)...Etienne Morin is second among CHL rookies with 24 goals.

TEAM NOTES: Indy is two wins shy of equaling its CHL-best mark of 39 wins (1999-00), but which occurred in a 70-game schedule....The Ice has not lost more than two games in a row in regulation all season...The Ice is 1-2-1 against Austin this year and a perfect 4-0-0 against Oklahoma City...Indy is the top penalty killing unit at home (106/114, 93.0%), but 12th on the road (105/135, 77.8%)...Indy is 18-1-7 in one-goal games this year, including a 10-0-2 mark in those games on the road...The Ice has allowed four or more goals in the team's last four games.

* Five different players scored goals and the team got two-point efforts from Jason Baird, Greg Olsen and Kevin St. Jacques...Jamie Morris made 32 saves for his ninth win of the year.

MEMPHIS SPOILS "PTH" NIGHT WITH 5-2 WIN

* Two early first period goals by Memphis put the Ice in catch-up mode all night...Scoring goals for Indianapolis were Etienne Morin and Jared Dumba.

ICE DOWNS THUNDER FOR TENTH TIME THIS YEAR 6-5

* Bernie John and Kevin St. Jacques had three-point nights while six different players tallied goals in the Ice's tenth win of the year over Wichita...Jamie Morris stopped 27 shots for his tenth victory of the season.
