Ice Dogs Ink Czech Trio

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach Ice Dogs Vice President of Hockey Operations and Head Coach John Van Boxmeer announced today that the West Coast Hockey League (WCHL) club has re-signed forwards Tomás Hradecky, Martin Lamich and Zdenek Vanc to one-year deals. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

All three became unrestricted free agents on June 1 when they were not on the West Coast Hockey League (WCHL) Protected List.

Hradecky, 24, played in 70 games, compiling 16-34-50 totals in his first professional season. The Znojmo, Czech Republic native ranked second on the Ice Dogs club in shooting percentage with 16.7 percent. His 34 assists ranked second (tied with Chris Kenady) on the team, while his 50 points placed him fourth on the club. Hradecky collected his first professional hat trick on March 20 (vs. Anchorage) en route to being the team's fifth highest goal scorer.

The 23-year-old Lamich entered his professional season last year with Tacoma before being acquired by the Ice Dogs on Jan. 3, 2002. Lamich ended the season recording 12-21-33 with 92 penalty minutes (PIM). The Opava, Czech Republic native ranked eighth on the Ice Dogs club in goals and points.

Vanc, 23, returns to the Ice Dogs for his third consecutive year. The Vlasim, Czech Republic native played 62 games last season, registering 10-9-19 and accumulating the clubs fifth highest PIM's (119).

The Czech trio will join their native captain Tomás Kapusta this upcoming season. Kapusta will enter the last year of his two-year contract. The Ice Dogs have had the most European players the last two seasons.
