Komets pick 5 in dispersal draft

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets announced today 5 players chosen in the dispersal draft held by the UHL at the annual Board of Governors meetings in Las Vegas June 13-15. Each UHL team selected players from the B.C. Icemen, New Haven Knights and Port Huron Border Cats who have suspended operations for the 2002-03 UHL season.
The Canton IcePatrol received the first selection, followed by each team based on points at the conclusion of the 2001-02 regular season. The Komets had the 5th pick in each round, choosing one player in each of the first 5 rounds.
The players chosen by Fort Wayne were:
Round 1: Chris Grenville, 6-1, 205 lbs., RW, from the B.C. Icemen. Grenville, 28, has played the last 6 seasons in the UHL, leading the B.C. Icemen with 52 goals and 109 points in 2001-02. Last year Grenville netted 30 goals and 52 points in 55 B.C. games. Grenville is the all-time B.C. leader in goals and points.
Round 2: Ken Boone, 6-3, 210 lbs., LW, from the New Haven Knights. Last year Boone, 26, skated 43 games with New Haven scoring 8 goals and 13 points while accumulating 318 penalty minutes in his first UHL season. 2002-03 will be his 5th pro year.
Round 3: Adam Lewis, 6-0, 198 lbs., LW, from the Port Huron Border Cats. Lewis, 24, appeared in his 4th pro year last year scoring 9 goals and 22 points in 40 games in his 3rd UHL season.
Round 4: Sean Rowe, 6-1, 195 lbs., RW, from the B.C. Icemen. Rowe, 31, scored 28 goals and 55 points in 64 games last season with Binghamton, his first campaign in the UHL. 2002-03 will be his 10th pro year.
Round 5: John Freeman, 6-5, 255 lbs., RW, from the Port Huron Border Cats. Freeman, 31, appeared in 16 games last season with Port Huron and posted 60 penalty minutes. Last year was his first season in the UHL.
